ARPIA2

Download the ARPIA2 plug-in for Escape Velocity Nova, version 2.2.0

A walkthrough is available in RTF format here, and a guide to The Riddle can be found here.

Arpia was devised as a simple plug-in/add-on for a game called Escape Velocity: Nova (EVN or EV:Nova for short), the third game in the Escape Velocity series of Ambrosia Software.
The storylines the player can follow had really inspired me, and so it was that I started to create a little story of my own.

ARPIA2 is a game add-on of three large storylines woven in parallel among which the player must choose.
The player fights battles, frees slaves, explores the galaxy, discovers trade, protects the human race and is part of Arpia.

In ARPIA2 you get to choose your path. But beware: one choice can change the future, and the future holds many surprises… Do you have what it takes?
It has always been everyone’s dream to fight off entire fleets by oneself, to become a big-time rich trader, to do covert ops and to know everyone, everywhere.
Well, here’s your chance.

Complete with stunning graphics made by incredibly talented designers (some of them actually created EVN years before, others have since then become game designers themselves or are hoping to do so), it is another way of being Arpia.

Enjoy the plug-in!

Shield add-ons for ARPIA2

ARPIA2 is compatible with ShieldBubbles and other such shield plug-ins. You may download an ARPIA2 ShieldBubbles add-on (requires 3D ShieldBubbles), or download Guy’s Shields plug-in, which includes a version for ARPIA2.

  1. @ Ashton: the book itself has been finished & revised several times (though I’m thinking of removing two passages or at least rewriting them), and I’m now in the process of submitting it to literary agents. Will keep you posted 😉

@ Magnie: first, remove any other non-ARPIA2 plug-ins, because they’re almost bound to cause issues with ARPIA2 (which is far larger than Arpia1). Second, do you see the ARPIA2 splash screen?

  2. (( Amazingly fast reply ))

I forgot to mention that I had multiple plugins with Arpia. Some of them are “Zalien Access” “Logrithen” ( Forgot name ) and 2 or 3 more, they seem to work quite well with Arpia ( Just some Plugins that seem to work with Arpia ). Okay… I don’t have enough privlages to make documents in the main folder ( Frustrating without admin privs ). I guess I’ll go try to get the lite version of Arpia cause it’s so awesome! 😛 … thinking … I just remembered…. There was something wrong with the lite version and the full version, let me go retry it again and find out the error. ( I believe I’ve tried it on two computers, both failed. ) … Re-downloading … unzipping .. converting … test play … It acts as if it isn’t there… any idea? Cause I’ve gone to the bar a billion times and nothing shows up except default missions.

  3. Hi Magnie,

Could you post a pilotlog? That way, I’ll be able to give some help.

I would strongly recommend downloading ARPIA2, because Arpia1.1 was still riddled with bugs and the storyline wasn’t nearly half as good. ARPIA2 “lite” is ‘only’ 15 MB to download, so I hope that may be more interesting for you…

  4. After spending a around a year playing EV Nova with the 1.1 version of Arpia ( 30 mb is to big for my computer to handle ) I am getting HUGELY frustrated with not knowing what to do, I always seem to ‘betray’ the Arpia Alliance, which I do all possible not to do. Is there somewhere in the plug that I can change so I get a second chance or don’t ‘betray’ them as easily, cause I make one simple mistake and the next second I’m being attacked like crazy, I’ve already gone through the code but still couldn’t understand how to ‘fix’ the ‘bug’.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. @ modius13: if your ship isn’t powerful enough to leave the system in one go, a technique is to go to and fro, playing with your acceleration to swing further and further. Another is to improve your engine or to buy an afterburner.

  6. I finished the regular storyline and I’m stuck in a gravity well around KCadoeau. How do I leave the system?

  7. I’m stuck on the last mission for the public figure route, I can’t find the system I need to go to in order to find Frandall. Can anyone help me out?

  8. If you are going towards the “rising sun” (Google will help you if that isn’t clear) and don’t find anything, do you have other plug-ins installed?

  9. Having a Riddle problem.

“When you enter the system, look at the shadows on your ship, find the direction the sun is, when there is no shadow on your ship, and head in that direction towards the sun, and you will soon discover a wormhole in space, enter it and your off to the Arpia homeworld !”

This does not seem to work for me!!! Are there any other requirements?
Ship type? Time passed? How far do I have to go?

    Thanks for any help.

  10. Love the plug in.

On the public figure string i’ve got to operation firestorm, but it didn’t say where to go next. The bar was empty, and i don’t have an active mission. Have a screwed up?

  11. Scratch that last question, lads. Where can I find a walkthrough of Investigation X? because I’m stuck. Thanks for all the help, everyone.

  12. tHanks, it worked. Now I’m stuck on the Purgatory. I escaped it by cloaking, and superzero redeemed me, but then I got assisgned the same mission AGAIN! I need help\advice.

  13. Any plug-in will potential cause a conflict. PlugPack is the worst offender, because it’s so big that ARPIA2 & PlugPack always conflict.
To solve the issue, remove all non-ARPIA2 plug-ins.

  14. I was thinking, could it be plug-ins? I’ve removed all of them, except for independent plugs, not the plugpacks. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  15. Oh! That does, in fact, make sense. Thank you, I would have never figured that out. Thanks again!

  16. Hi Jimmy,

When you enter the system, look at the shadows on your ship, find the direction the sun is, when there is no shadow on your ship, and head in that direction towards the sun, and you will soon discover a wormhole in space, enter it and your off to the Arpia homeworld !

    Goodluck !

  17. By the rising sun you shall find what you seek. I didn’t find a rising sun or wormhole or anything, though. Is there something wrong with my game or computer?

  18. Okay now i’ve gotten to that certain system that is the answer to the riddle, but now what? I don’t know what to do! Can anyone help?
    thanks

  19. DaveO, I’m afraid that the Wild Geese storyline excludes you from starting the ARPIA2 storylines, for reasons linked to the very existence of the Wild Geese (there are paths of the WG storyline where the Wild Geese are destroyed, which does not go well with a couple of elements in ARPIA2).
You’ll have to start with a new pilot.

  20. Peter, let me start by saying that I love the plug-in. I was wondering this: i am halfway through the wild geese storyline, and i have an average combat rating. I’ve been flying around to different bars, trying to trigger the first mission for the pluggin, but to no avail. Does the wild geese campaign make me ineligible for the Arpia stories? Is my CR not high enough? any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

  21. It is most probably because you have a very good legal status with them. I should have made them far more reproachful of criminal acts, but then it might have been harder for people to gain powerful Arpian fleets fast.

  22. i have a fleet of 6 arpia carriers and over 50 million creds from disabling
arpians still are on good terms with me and have yet to react to my actions
was this on purpose, or am i bugged?
